Summer First Aid Kit ideas
Here’s our list of 5 things you never thought to add to your summer First Aid Kit
Full fat coke to drink after a swim in the sea
Kills all known germs
Antihistamine cream
We like Boots Bite and Sting Relief Antihistamine cream – just the thing for nettle stings and insect bites
Tick remover
Or better still, wear long trousers if you’re going near long grass. Don’t let your summer memories be catching Lyme Disease. If you do get bitten by a tick do see your GP if you get any flu-like symptoms or rash afterwards.
BIG plasters
Is it just us, or are plasters always too small. Dr Parrot recommends Elastoplast Knee and Elbow Plasters.
Prickly heat
Our favourite prickly heat treatment is Snake Brand Prickly Heat Original Cooling Powder. Also good is Rona Ross Prickly Heat Lotion (this includes calamine, and can also be used on sun burn and sun allergies).
Pawpaw
If you are travelling somewhere where fresh pawpaw are available, it can be used to treat minor cuts and bruises. Simply tie some pawpaw skin to the affected area – its antimicrobial properties will clean the wound. And you get to eat the rest of the pawpaw too.
Dr Parrot’s favourite First Aid kit is the 70 piece Steroplast First Aid Kit
